TAV was workmanlike in sweeping past FaR Out to take the 17s title. Tobi Farrar, Jasmine Norton and Madison Hanlan were on their game in the finals, but it was Lauren Martin's heroics in the semifinals, when TAV trailed 10-5 to Sting Gold, that propelled TAV to the title.
Megan Hendrickson, who was great all weekend for FaR Out, took home Most Outstanding Player honors.
The 18s final was one of the best I have EVER seen. MN Select had 8 match points. Club Fusion 18 Black had six. The first two games went extra points as did the third, with points scoring and being defended with great intensity and skill.
With Game 3 tied at 25-25, Jordan Haverly, named Outstanding Attacker, came through with a kill and a block to seal the win for Fusion. Katherine Harms was amazing for MN Select and earned Outstanding Player honors.
The final scores, in case you're curious, in the best of three match (Game 3 to 15 points) were 25-27, 28-26, 27-25. Wow!
Also, my thoughts go out to M1 OH Megan Carlson, named Best Digger, who badly injured an ankle in the semifinal. No one's allowed to get seriously hurt at my tournament, Megan. Next time, I'll have to go over the rules with you beforehand.
