Quick Information We have prepared a list of downloadable files that will help you get more information about the event. The files are either printable image files or PDF files, that will require Acrobat Reader to view them. All the links will open in a new window. We hope this is useful: Frequently Asked Questions We have been getting a lot of questions so we decided a Frequently Asked Question list would be helpful.
Let's get one biggie out of the way first. Many have wondered what the name of the playing venue is. It is the Wisconsin Dells Center ... and it is beautiful.
The WDC will house 16 courts, the championship court, vendor area,
t-shirt/apparel sales and will be home to the Opening Ceremonies.

There will be plenty of signs.
Arrival 1. When do we need to be there? Coaches and/or directors must check their teams in no later than

5pm to give themselves time to check in to their hotel and head over to the Wisconsin Dells Center to enjoy the fun!
2. What time can I check-in to my hotel? Please call your hotel to determine your check-in time. We also suggest inquiring about a late check-out for Tuesday if you are flying.

3pm-7pm on Wednesday, June 18th at the Wisconsin Dells Center. You only need to bring USAV medical waivers for each player on your roster. Please read the section for Player/Coach Event Pass for more information. 4. Where is the team check-in? The team check-in is at the Wisconsin Dells Center in the Pre-Function area through the main doors.
5. What happens if I cannot make check-in? If neither a coach, team representative, or director can make it to check-in, please contact Eric Schulze prior to your arrival to arrange alternate check-in. Eric can be reached by

or by phone at 815-703-8724. Please provide your club name, time you will be arriving and contact information on the message.
6. Is there a coaches' meeting? If so, when? Yes. The coaches' meeting at 8:00pm (or immediately following the Opening Ceremonies) at the Chula Vista Resort in the Sierra Vista Meeting room. Download a map
of the resort to see the location. We will provide you with some
information on the event and the final schedule for your division at that time.
Believe us, we don't like these either, so the perk is that Coaches' Party is
immediately after the meeting at 8:30pm. Details of location and
cost are TBA.
Wisconsin Dells Center 1. We just found out the WDC is 1/2 mile from the Chula Vista? How do we get there? It's no further than a walk on a college campus or to a large convention center from a downtown hotel. We do, however, have other options available. You can drive or take a shuttle
Ducks from the Chula Vista Resort. Please read below for more information.
2. Is there parking available? Are they charging for parking? There is ample parking at the WDC. Parking will be $5.00/day. Multiple day passes are available
for your convenience. Please ask for more information at the concierge desk located in the main lobby of the Chula Vista resort or at the Wisconsin Dells Center. Parking will be free on
Wednesday, June 18th.
3. Are there shuttle buses? Where do they pick-up from? Where do they go? What is the schedule? We will be providing a shuttle service from the Chula Vista Resort to the Wisconsin Dells from 6:45am until play is complete each day.
Many of the shuttles will be the world famous Wisconsin Dells Ducks. The service is free for players and coaches. All other passengers must purchase a shuttle pass for this service. If you do not have transportation while you are here and would like to take a trip into town for groceries, contact the front desk at the Chula Vista and arrange for a van to take you wherever you want to go. If they have someone available, they will be more than willing to help out. Details will be available at the event.
4. What is the spectator seating like? Can we bring chairs? The Wisconsin Dells Center has ample seating. Not only that, but the chairs are
virtually brand new and very comfortable. No outside chairs will be allowed in the building.
5. What is the food menu? How are the prices? Can we bring our own food? We are excited about the food available at the concession are in the Wisconsin Dells Center. The menu includes made-to-order sub sandwiches,
wraps, whole fruit, veggie trays, and salads for the players. Those not worried about their performance can enjoy pizza, burgers, brats, fries and great beverages. Of course there are snacks like Dippin' Dots, yogurt, cookies, and more. The food is very reasonably priced and
is much better than typical convention centers. I had a one of the new
wraps the other day. I was very impressed!
Chula Vista Resort 1. Where do we check-in if we have a condo? Regular room? There are different lobbies at the Chula-Vista Resort. You can use the signs at the resort to figure it out, but just know that you should go to the main lobby if you are in any style room besides a condo. Those in condos should head towards the Condo Lobby.
2. What type of amenities does the resort have? I don't want to to go into too much detail. I could take up two pages doing that. Your best bet is to do two things. Goto their website if you haven't already and give yourself one hour once you arrive to walk around and see it all. Well, maybe you should make it two.
Player/Coach Event Pass 1. Do the players get passes? What does it get them? Yes. The players must present their pass every time they enter the Wisconsin Dells Center. In addition, the passes have the following perks:
- Admission to any of the three indoor and outdoor waterparks at the Chula Vista Resort
- Admission to all events at the Chula Vista Resort (Disco & Waterpark Party) - Unlimited access to the shuttle bus running from Chula Vista Resort to the Wisconsin Dells Center
2. Where do the players enter the building? Players may enter through the front gates. They then must go through the Player Pass line designated in the hallway leading to the dome.
3. How many coach passes do we get? Please inquire about your team's passes at Team Check-In.
Generally speaking teams will receive a pass for each coach on their roster.
Spectators/Event Pass 1. What is the event pass? What does it get me? Entry to the Wisconsin Dells Center is by pass or credential only. Spectators may purchase either a daily pass or a discounted three day pass. We realize that this is an inconvenience for many, but a necessary evil. These prices are not out of line with events of similar size. The difference is we insisted that the event pass have added value than simply watching the action. What we have done is asked that the Wisconsin Dells Center and the Chula Vista Resort help us out to offer more value than simply watching the tournament. The pass has the following perks: -
Admission to any of the indoor and outdoor waterparks at the Chula Vista Resort
- Admission to all events at the Chula Vista Resort (Parent Meet & Greet and
Parent Party ... see
Schedule of Events)
2. What does the event pass cost? Are there any group/multi-day discounts? There are no group discounts, but we do offer a multi-day discount. Here are the prices: Children 5 & Under - Free Children Ages 6-12 - $5.00/day Senior Citizen (60+) - $5.00/day Adult (Ages 13-59) - $10.00/day Children's Event Pass - $12.50 (access
all 3 days during Session 2 only)
Senior's Event Pass - $12.50 (access all 3 days
during Session 2 only) Full Event Pass - $25.00 (access all
3 days during Session 2 only)
3. Where and when can I purchase the event pass? Event passes can be purchased at the Wisconsin Dells Center ticket gates starting at 4pm on
Wednesday, June 18 and will be available throughout the event. The gates will be open each day at 7am. In addition, there will be locations designated at the Chula Vista Resort (i.e. concierge desk) to purchase the event pass as well. Note: Programs are available only at the Wisconsin Dells Center. The ticket gates have them, but if you purchase your pass at the concierge desk, you can
purchase a program at the Wisconsin Dells Center.
Meal Plan 1. We heard something about a meal plan. What is it? This is one of the most unique features of the event. The Chula Vista resort has created a
Meal Plan just for the PrepVolleyball.com Classic that allows you to get a great value on all your meals throughout the event. The hours are specifically designed for players that play early or might be coming back late. Lunch hours were extended so you can eat early enough if you are playing the PM wave and also accommodate those coming back from the AM wave. The menu is great. Download the file for more information. The feedback was awesome
in our first year.
2. What does it cost? How do I get it? The cost for Session
3 is $89.00 plus tax per person for the
full plan and $69 for the "No Lunch" plan.
The best way to purchase them is online. You can
click here to purchase them online and you will be able to pick them up upon
arrival at the Chula Vista Resort. You can also purchase them at the Wisconsin Dells Center or the Chula Vista Resort upon your arrival. Sales will not begin at the Wisconsin Dells Center until 4pm.
3. Is the food good? Is it healthy for the players? I suppose everybody will have a different opinion. After coaching for 10 years and seeing the food you normally find at convention centers and concession stands, let me tell you that you will be BLOWN AWAY by the food, the selection and the consideration that these are athletes we are feeding. Fruit, salads, pasta, subs, sports drinks, water, a hot breakfast buffet, a dinner buffet with multiple entrees ... are you serious?!? For $89 you would get maybe two dinners and some cooler food at a normal qualifier. Here it gets you food for
3 full days! I don't know why you wouldn't want to do it. In fact, my "super" chaperone who always prepares food for my team saw the deal and thought we just couldn't pass it up.
4. Will there be a place to buy them when I get there? You can purchase them at the Wisconsin Dells Center or the Chula Vista Resort upon your arrival. Sales will not begin at the Wisconsin Dells Center until 4pm.
5. Where are the meals served? Breakfast and Dinner will be served in the Chula Vista Conference Center (see map). Lunch and snacks are available at the Wisconsin Dells Center and Crash Landings (inside Lost Rios). Lunch will also be available at the Cactus Bar & Grill.
Special Events 1. Can I find a list of the events and times for all the different activities? You can either
download it, see it on posters located throughout the Chula Vista Resort, or you can pick a hard copy up at the PrepVolleyball.com Classic Information booth located at the Wisconsin Dells Center when you arrive.
2. What do the events cost? How do we get tickets? All the events for the players in Session
3 are FREE! For events scheduled for coaches and/or parents, please see
the flyer for pricing information. Tickets can be purchased at the concierge desks located in the Chula Vista Resort lobbies or at the Wisconsin Dells Center.
3. We are not staying at the Chula Vista. Can we still participate in the events? Yes, yes, yes! Please come to everything. Your hotel is only a place to sleep. Be where all the action is. If the party gets a little too exciting you can always call a cab!
4. I heard there were tryouts for the signing of the National Anthem? Where and when? That is true. John Tawa will be conducting tryouts on the main stage in the Wisconsin Dells Center immediately following the Opening Ceremonies on
Wednesday, June 18th ... approximately 7:30pm.
5. How do I get more information about the events? PrepVolleyball.com will have an information booth staffed throughout the tournament in the Wisconsin Dells Center. They will have advertising for each event available and can answer any questions you may have.
Wisconsin Dells Information 1. We have never been to the Dells. What is it all about? The Waterpark Capital of the World! The Wisconsin Dells is a popular vacation destination for families in the Midwest. It is virtually a large theme park that doesn't charge admission at the door. You can choose where you want to go and what you want to see. You can find out a lot more than I can share by visiting http://wisdells.com
2. What kind of attractions are available? How do we get more information? Please visit http://www.wisdells.com to find out more before you leave. Once you are here you can talk to the staff at the concierge desk, pick up informational flyers throughout the resorts, or take a River Taxi ride into downtown and simply walk around and experience it for yourself.
3. What are the most popular things to do in the Dells? Beside the waterparks, I would
suggest you should do a boat ride of some kind on the Wisconsin River. The Wisconisn Duck Tours are the most popular, but you can do speedboats that do power glides, rent a waverunner or just cruise on a simple tour. The river is gorgeous. Shows like the Tommy Bartlett Show are great, but really you have to decide for yourself. Like John said, you won't have too little to do ... you will have too little time to do it!
4. Are there websites that have more information? Beyond the ones above (scroll up), our best suggestion is to simply do a Google search on Wisconsin Dells and see what you can find.
Opening Ceremonies 1. When are the opening ceremonies? Opening Ceremonies are on
Wednesday, June 18th at 6pm in the Wisconsin Dells Center.
2. What is the plan? How does it work?
Clubs will meet in a designated area near the back of the Wisconsin Dells Center to organize the club procession to begin
the opening ceremonies. If you club has a banner of some kind, please feel
free to bring it, but you are not obligated. We would like the players to
be wearing something that designates what club they play for. Once the
procession is complete, we will have a few speakers welcoming everyone and giving you a little information about the event including an informational media presentation. Then the fun starts.
We will have at least two opening acts that could range from music to comedy or
anything in between. You will be glad you attended!
3. When should the players and coaches arrive? What should they wear? When should parents arrive? Players and coaches should plan to arrive between
5:30 and 5:45 so we can arrange the procession. Be aware that we are going to seat the players and coaches
up front so we can keep them together. At 5:45 we will begin seating the general public. We have 1,000 seats setup, but have plenty of standing room to enjoy the festivities.
4. Can parents attend? Is it really free? Yes ... in fact it wouldn't be as much fun without them. The Opening Ceremonies are totally free. Free parking and free admission. Just come out and look around and enjoy the atmosphere!
Awards Ceremonies 1. When are the
awards ceremonies? Awards Ceremonies will begin immediately following the
respective finals for both the 16s and 15s. The ceremonies will be held at the Wisconsin Dells Center
on Court 3 (the Championship Court).
2. What is the plan? Who should be there? We will be awarding medals and trophies to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in each age division. Also, individual awards will be handed out such as Outstanding Player, Outstanding Hitter, Outstanding Setter, Outstanding Digger, Outstanding Blocker, Outstanding Passer, Spirit Award, Outstanding Teammate and Best Coach. Finally, we will award the 'grandaddy' of them all. The
PrepVolleyball.com Cup. John has something up his sleeve on this one. You will not want to miss it. We will close with a few comments from John and all have a group hug ... alright maybe not the hug.
3. Are they mandatory or can we leave? Yes ... I mean no, but well ... kind of ... we really, really, really want everyone to be there! We will do some giveaways and other fun things. We know there are some that will want to get on the road, but we suggest heading over to the waterpark when you get done playing, hang out, and swing back to the Wisconsin Dells Center if you don't want to see the finals.
Please check the schedule to determine when to be at the WDC.
The Tournament 1. What is the schedule? Click on the following link for our playing schedule in Session
3: Schedule
2. Where can I get results? Advanced Event Systems will be providing our real-time results at http://www.advancedeventsystems.com/liveupdate/
3. Are there trainers? Where are they located? Is there a charge for tape?
We will have two certified trainers on staff at all times. The will be
located just inside the revolving doors to the left when you walk-in. They
will be taping, but players must supply their own tape. Tape and pre-wrap
are available for purchase at the tournament store. Ice will be available
through the training area as well.
4. What is up with the weird format? What are the power pools? We wanted teams to be able to use this tournament as either a pre-nationals event or a end of the year tournament. By power pooling the teams that have qualified for the USA Junior Olympic Championships
and are among the top ranked teams in the country we have guaranteed those teams the opportunity to warm-up against some great competition. Unlike other tournaments, though, we want only one champion in one division. So non-qualified teams have the chance to play into the power pools and win the tournament too. We feel this a unique approach at a tournament of this size and are excited to see how it plays out. Will an underdog win it all?
5. When can we reasonably expect to be done playing on the last day? The last matches should end by
3pm. In most cases teams will be in single-elimination playoff matches so some teams will be done by noon. (If your teams loses the first round, you will stay to ref the next match on that court). Again, we really hope everyone will consider sticking around to
watch the Championship Matches and participate in the Awards Ceremonies.
The environment should be electric and we encourage everyone to attend.
6. Will there be t-shirts and other tournament apparel available? Yes.
Player's Edge will be on hand with plenty of
PrepVolleyball.com Classic gear. T-Shirts, shorts, sweatpants, hoodies, and more will be available inside the Wisconsin Dells Center. I had my team check it over and after they made a few revisions they gave the thumbs up and said they would have to bring some more money with them to buy all the great gear! Make sure you get your tournament t-shirt before your favorite color disappears!
7. Should we bring handshake gifts? It is completely up
to you. We know that in our current economy, extras like these are not
always doable. If you would like to bring handshake gifts to exchange with
teams you are certainly welcome to do so. However, they are certainly not
required.
Pin Trading
1. What is the Pin Trading
Program? The pin program, another way the PrepVolleyball.com
Classic sets itself apart as a tournament that blends great volleyball with
great fun, is inspired from the program at Walt Disney World. The concept is
simple: find a pin you like and trade for it.
Here’s how it will work. Players may bring pins
from their clubs to trade OR may purchase a three-pin starter kit for $3 at the
t-shirt vendor booth. Players may then swap their pins for fancier and/or
limited edition pins by trading for a pin with one of the designated staffers
that will be adorned with the pins.
For more information, please see our
Pin Trading
Information Page.
2. Where
do we purchase pins? Do we have to bring our own?
Players may purchase a three-pin starter kit for $3 at the t-shirt vendor booth
in the Wisconsin Dells Center. You are not required to bring your own, but
you can certainly do so. If you are interested in having pins made, please
contact our partner Amy Steininger of
www.expresstradingpins.com.
Golf Specials 1. I
have heard good things about the golf course located at the Chula Vista.
Do you have any specials? What are the prices? The
Coldwater Canyon Golf Course (visit
website) is a gorgeous 18 hole course located on the grounds of the Chula
Vista Resort. They have put together special pricing for participants of
the PrepVolleyball.com Classic. The normal fee for 18 holes and a cart is
$50. Coldwater Canyon has put together great multi-play cards for the
Classic:
3-play Card: $120 ($40/round)
5-play Card: $175 ($35/round)
10-play Card: $300 ($30/round)
The cards can be used by anyone. For example, a person could purchase a
10-play card and 10 different players can use the card for one round each.
It is a great deal! Cards can be purchased only at the Coldwater Canyon
clubhouse.
2. Are
you running a scramble tournament like last year? We decided
against running the scramble this year as it was difficult to manage. We
felt that coming up with special price for those attending would be better and
would allow players to play as often as they want.
